Seguro que conoces nuestros productos en banda libre de 5GHz: estaciones base (APs) de 140Mbps netos, terminales (CPEs) de 35Mbps, canales de tan solo 10MHz, agregación de portadoras, robustez ante interferencias, QoS, etc.

Somos gente inquieta y llevamos tiempo trabajando en el siguiente paso, pensando en nuestros clientes: queremos dar la posibilidad a nuestros WISP de ofrecer a sus clientes más capacidad usando el mismo espectro, con más flexibilidad y mejorando la resistencia a las interferencias.

La solución: el nuevo CPE de 70Mbps. ¿Qué hemos hecho? Nos hemos inspirado en la tecnología de la estación base BS 450 y hemos usado la misma idea para duplicar la capacidad del terminal. Esta idea es la siguiente: hemos diseñado un CPE que es capaz de escuchar dos portadoras de la estación base al mismo tiempo. La BS puede enviar datos al CPE por cualquiera de las dos portadoras o por las dos a la vez. A un cliente que tenga instalado un nuevo terminal de 70Mbps se le podrán provisionar servicios de 40, 50… hasta 70Mbps.

¿Cuántas antenas tiene el nuevo terminal de 70Mbps? ¡Una! Hemos diseñado la radio del nuevo CPE para tener una sola antena. No tendrás que preocuparte por tener que poner una antena por cada portadora del CPE. De hecho, el nuevo terminal será físicamente muy parecido al de 35Mbps, solo ligeramente más alto y lo comercializamos en dos versiones: con una antena integrada de 15dBi y con conector RP-SMA para una antena externa.

¿Puedo usar mis BS actuales y mezclar CPEs? Por supuesto. Nuestros nuevos CPEs son totalmente compatibles con las estaciones base BS450 (solo requiere una actualización de firmware para aprovechar toda la capacidad) y se pueden mezclar con los terminales normales de una portadora (35Mbps). La BS aprovechará la capacidad de todos los equipos al máximo.

¿Cómo mejora esto la resistencia ante interferencias? El nuevo terminal es doblemente flexible. En realidad, se conecta dos veces a la BS, por lo que tiene dos canales radio en dos frecuencias distintas activos al mismo tiempo. Esto permite tener supervisados en tiempo real las dos frecuencias y la BS puede elegir para transmitir el canal que mejor esté y hacer los cambios de frecuencia al terminal para mejorar las interferencias que puedan aparecer.

Y si no quiero dar altas de más de 35Mbps, ¿me interesa el nuevo CPE? Usar el nuevo CPE no es obligatorio, pero tiene ventajas incluso con contratos de menos de 35Mbps. La más evidente es que si instalas un terminal de 70Mbps podrás mejorar el servicio de tu cliente cuando te lo pida o cuando estimes oportuno. Una ventaja menos evidente es que al tener doble conexión a la BS, aunque la calidad de la señal no sea óptima, suba el ruido o aumenten las interferencias, tienes el doble de capacidad física: tus productos de 20 o 30Mbps serán de mucha más calidad pase lo que pase a tu alrededor.

¿Cómo reparte la BS el tráfico? Como siempre, pero mejor. Una BS450 con CPEs de 35Mbps reparte los clientes entre sus 4 portadoras en base a: el tráfico, la calidad de la señal y el número de terminales por portadora. Si añadimos terminales de 70Mbps, la BS puede, además, entregar el tráfico a un cliente por cualquiera de sus dos portadoras con lo que consigue optimizar aún más la capacidad disponible. La BS puede hacer saltar a cualquiera de las dos portadoras del CPE para mantener siempre una situación equilibrada y óptima.

Surely you know which our devices in 5GHz unlicensed band are: 140Mbps base station (APs), 35Mbps user terminals (CPEs), channels of only 10MHz, carrier aggregation, robustness against interference, QoS, etc.

We are restless people and carry on working on the next step, thinking about our customers: we want to bring the possibility to our WISP to offer more capacity using the same spectrum, with more flexibility and improving the resitance against interference.

The solution: the new 70Mbps CPE. What have we done? We have inspired in the BS450 base station technology and we have used the same idea to duplicate the capacity of terminal. That idea is this: we have designed a CPE that it is capable of listening two carriers of station base at the same time. The BS can sending data to the CPE by either of these carriers or at both carriers at the same time. A client with a new 70Mbps terminal installed will be able to provision services from 40, 50 … up to 70Mbps.

How many antennas have the new 70Mbps terminal? One! We have designed the radio of the new CPE to have just one antenna.  Don’t worry about to put one antenna by each carrier of CPE. In fact, the new terminal will be physically very similar to 35Mbps CPE, just higher and we commercialize it in two version: with 15dBi antenna integrated and with RP-SMA connector for using with externa antenna.

Can I use my current BS and mix with the new CPEs? Of course. Our new CPEs are totally suitable with the BS450 base station (only requires a firmware update to advantage full capacity) and you can mix it with the normal 35Mbps terminals of one carrier. The BS takes advantage the full capacity of the all devices.  

How improve the resistance against interference? The new terminal is doubly flexible. In reality, it connects twice to the BS, so it has two radio channels on two different active frequencies at the same time. This allows the two frequencies to be monitored in real time and the BS can choose to transmit the channel that is better and make the frequency changes to the terminal to improve the interferences that may appear.

And if I don’t want to give more than 35Mbps, I’m interested in the new CPE? Use the new CPE it’s not obligatory, but has advantages with contracts of less 35Mbps. The most obvious is that if you install a 70Mbps CPE, you could be improve the customer service. A less obvious advantage is that having a double connection to the BS, even if the signal quality is not optimal, increase the noise or increase the interference, you have twice the physical capacity: your products of 20 or 30Mbps will be much more quality No matter what happens around you.

How does BS distribute traffic? As always, but better. A BS450 with CPEs of 35Mbps distributes the clients among its 4 carriers based on: the traffic, the quality of the signal and the number of terminals per carrier. If we add 70Mbps terminals, the BS can also deliver traffic to a client by either of its two carriers, thus optimizing the available capacity even more. The BS can make jump to any of the two carriers of the CPE to always maintain a balanced and optimal situation.
