IP-oriented Wireless Backhaul
Albentia Systems offers a wide range of IP-oriented products for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless backhaul/transport networks in multiple licensed and license-exempt frequency bands ranging from 3 to 7 GHz.
All transport equipment designed by Albentia Systems is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard used in WiMAX systems, and offer best-in-class performance thanks to three key differentiating factors:
- OFDM modulation based on the IEEE 802.16 standard, for superior performance in LOS and NLOS scenarios
- High MAC layer efficiency based on contention-free deterministic framed transmission allowing the maximum use of the physical layer capacity, with an Ethernet net throughput exceeding 90% of the maximum over-the-air physical layer rate.
- Traffic prioritization and QoS are performed at the MAC layer level (layer-2), showing an excellent performance for critical applications like VoIP and Video transmission, far beyond the performance of IP level (layer-3) traditional traffic-shaping techniques
